Chapter 11
And a weekend of erotic sex led to many nights of passion, fun, romance, and surprisingly companionship. We would still have our debates, and he swore that I still challenged his authority during office hours, but we were completely inseparable and harmonious outside of work. I would go to his place, or he would be at mine. We had not spent a night apart since he came back from Los Angeles though we remained discreet at the office, except for the occasional steamy quickies in between meetings. I confided in Karol that we were dating, and I asked her to check me if I behave possessively toward Miles in front of others. I wanted to touch him constantly and would be jealous if I noticed other women at work, in the gym, or when we were out together, checking him out, a new emotion for me. She told me that there was a gentleness now in our interactions, but that could be more related to being more comfortable with our boss and that he had been more relaxed with everyone lately.
One night after work, we were at his place listening to music through his wall speakers and discussing our favorite artists. He rested his head in my lap, and I brushed his wavy hair lovingly with my hands. He looked up at me. âI canât believe you would choose Erykah over Jill.â
âDuh, Erykah is from Texas. A no-brainer. Iâm surprised you are choosing Jill over her. Erykah screams freaky sex.â
âTrue, theyâre both comfortable in their own skin and both beautiful women. But Jill always has this sexy smile, hoarding a secret that only a few will ever know. And she positively glows almost every time Iâve seen her in concert.â
âLet me guess you used to go with Sonya?â Sonya was the woman heâd almost married three years ago, and they had dated for four years prior. âBecause men donât go to Jill Scott concerts alone or with their boys.â
âYour jealous streak is hilarious. That relationship has been over, and I ended it, remember?â
âWhat about whatâs her name? That woman you used to make me jealous.â
âLike you used that dude?â
âNot true, because I didnât think you were coming to the concert.â
He grinned. âBut you hoped I did. You were going to ask me again when you stopped by my office, looking all sexy that I completely forgot I was on the phone for a second.â His hand drifted to my ass and slipped under my panties.
I stilled his probing hand. âStop distracting me. So, whatâs her face? What was she to you?â
âYou know her name like I know Romelâs name.â He pinched my arm, and I popped the top of his head. âOuchâ¦you have heavy hands to be so small.â
I wrapped my arm around his neck. âI can also do a mean chokehold. So, tell me about this woman who shall remain nameless.â
âAlright,â¦alright.â He gave me direct eye contact. âI met Kimâ¦I mean, âMs. Namelessâ⦠at a networking event the week I moved here, and we hung out for a while.
